5 Best Features in Android Marshmallow
Android Marshmallow comes with a slew of new and exciting features. However, in midst of so many additions, it can be difficult to find or use the new features. This is where we come in as we have highlighted five of the best features brought to the Android platform with the Marshmallow update.
Now on Tap
Now on Tap is probably one of the best features introduced in Marshmallow update. You can use this feature by simply pressing the button present at the bottom of your phone. It enables you to search for almost anything on a page without any trouble. For example, if you are on a site that’s discussing a movie, and you tap the bottom button, you will be provided details of that movie and its actors. This is, however, just one of the many applications of this new feature. It can come in handy in numerous other situations.
Doze has been added in the newest iteration of Android to boost your battery’s performance. If your device is inactive for a long time, then Doze will put your device to sleep, turning off most of the background features. This allows your phone’s battery to last a little longer.
App Standby is another battery booster for your smartphone. Instead of shutting down your Android, App Standby keeps an eye on your applications, and if you haven’t used one in a long while, then it will automatically disable that particular app. This will switch off all the features of that app, freeing up the battery which was previously being used by the app.
When you have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE, and other features switched on, they start to show up at the top of the phone’s screen. The more icons there are hogging up the space on the screen, the uglier your phone’s interface will look. However, now with the help of UI Tuner, you can see the icons you want to see while making the rest invisible. If you don’t want to see Wi-Fi sign roaming on your screen all the time, you can just turn it off. The same can be done to any icon that shows up in the upper tray. This helps interface stay clean, which is a nice new change.
App Drawer has received a major overhaul in the latest update as the coveted search bar has finally made its way to the platform. As soon as you start writing a name for the app in the search bar, you usually get what you want without much of a hassle. Furthermore, you can now mark different locations on the map, which will then allow App Drawer to suggest you apps in accordance to your location. For example, if you are at your workplace, you will be given options of using Gmail, Hotmail, etc., and if you are at a restaurant, you will then be prompted with entertainment apps.
